Commute to Seguin
HI Everyone and Anyone who has any suggestions, my family is moving to San Antonio in a Few months. my husband will be working in Seguin. We want a 30-40min commute at the most for him. I have been looking at Bulverde area, comal isd, and NE isd online. any suggestions for areas that are good and a easy commute for him. We are looking for possibly acreage lot with 300-400k house, river access and community pool would be nice. most importantly we have a 5 y/o and a 3 year old so schools are super important. I want exemplary or recognized public school. open to suggestions for private school. looking for a montessori school for the youngest. willing to not have acreage to have good access to city stuff (san Antonio) or be in best school possible. My husbands office will be right off of 1-10. this will be our 3rd time in san Antonio, we lived on the west side and north in stone oak area before kids. Husband will also need to fly out of airport frequently to midland, tx and houston tx. any suggestions are much appreciated!! as far as community/subdivision I want a place where there are lots of families with young kids and a place it will be easy for me to make friends, also close to a gym would be good.

I graduated from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin and drove home to the northwest side of SA frequently... I would recommend looking into the Schertz/Cibilo area. It's on the shorter side of the commute and is a very nice area. I know someone who is teaching there now and the schools are nice. I wouldn't be able to give you specifics on neighborhood names, but if you like neighborhoods with amenities like pools, playgrounds, etc., do consider looking at some off of FM 3009 and FM 78. The area is very family friendly and close to everything.

You could look at Alamo Heights, widely regarded as the best schools in the city. Northwood Estates are also nearby. Feeds into Northwood Elementary which is rated exemplary again. Northwood is a bit farther east than Alamo Heights, has tons of kids and is close knit. You have tons of gyms near by too.

check out the area around New Braunfels/Gruene NE of Seguin --there are homes on the River--Lake McQueeny area and smaller acreages with and without homes
New Braunfels is very upscale now--lots of new construction--ISD is one of better ones in TX--flying out of Austin would not be too bad...
I lived east of Seguin as a kid and graduated from Seguin HS long time ago and from TLC before the U was added---I drove through Seguin this summer for first time in a few years and was really sad to see how dingy it was looking--being on I-10 vs I-35 was really a big bust--in the 70s I 10 was the hot road and Seguin was going great--NB was the sleepy town...things are definitely reversed now...Seguin does not have much to recommend it from what I saw--but the college is still a great deal...
New Braunfels, San Marcos--those are viable towns--Lockhart is not too bad

Bulverde would be a very long drive for him.
I'd stick to looking in the NB area. You'll be close to rivers, lakes etc.
