Default Thousand Trails @ Medina lake

OK, so we are thinking about using our "free weekend" pass at Thousand Trails but keep getting conflicting answers. We call the national number and they say we can reserve a certain site, then you call the park and they say it's first come first serve. They can't guarantee we can get a sewer site even if thats what we reserve . Has anyone ( yes you) been there in, say the past year? Any one used the free thing? Do they stick us at the other end of the park?

Anyone going for labor day?

You knew I would answer this, didn't you .
It has always been first come first serve. Unless they have changed the way they do the referrals. It is first come first serve for members. There are plenty of full hook up sites. We have never had a problem getting a full hookup.
The sites directly on the water are electric and water only (can't have sewer that close to the lake).
This year on 4th of July weekend was the busiest we have ever seen it. But we still got a full hookup.

The park is like two separate parks. When you first go in there are a couple of sections (R & A) this is closer to the pool and tends to be a quieter section. If you drive on down the road, about a mile or so, there is the "f, b & c" sections, this is closer to the lake and the activity center. It gets a little rowdier down there. That is where we stay .

Remember what I told you about buying a membership. Don't buy directly thru them, they are very expensive. If I refer you I get a $50 gift card , but I have to set it up.

haha. It's not rowdy at all really (except maybe when I'm there ). Quiet time is 11:00. We have never heard the neighbors except maybe on a holiday weekend and even then it isn't bad at all.

Any plans to go soon? I know school is starting soon so maybe it won't be that bad for labor day. It wasn't near as bad as i thought on the 4th. We want to take the jet ski out one more time this year and we spent so much time at that end over the summer we thought we might just give it a try. it would be hard to beat what we already have at the other place but change is good too. Besides, it's free.

How do they do "guest"?

I'm not sure about the "guest" deal. As a member I am pretty much on my own, I only see the security truck driving by. I would hope that as a guest they would leave you alone and let you have your fun. They will give you a calender of events when you check in.

If you are bringing the jet ski you could get a spot right on the lake and leave the ski in the water by your site. I have a feeling the lake sites will be full during labor day weekend. But you never know. If you don't get a spot directly on the water you can still leave it in the water at the dock and nobody will mess with it.

We're right on the water at the other place all summer, might try for something different. Are they wooded sites? I love that more than the water!! And I would take sewer over view this time. I neeeeeed my long showers at the lake. Winter is one thing but summer....
