KPBrady...do not, I repeat do not hang out anywhere near any military base in San Antonio... YOU SHOULD TAKE THE 25 minute trip to BLANCO AND 1604 or go to Stoneoak and 1604 if you really want to have a great time. If you are between 21-45, it will definitely be your type of hangouts. Check out New York Bar, Cross eyed seagull, and The Pointe. Just google, you'll find the info on these places...all are fun!

There is no place a few miles from the base. Take the 25 minute trip to Blanco and 1604/ or Stoneoak and 1604 and check out The Pointe, Cross Eyed Seagull, and Chicago Bar or New York Bar. They are all going to be decent places to "hangout, eat, dance and mingle"...there are just no decent places within a few miles of the base...either of them. Hope I helped! Just google the bars and you'll find them...they are all fun!

Oh - and take a bus or a designated driver. You don't want to be driving onto the 100% ID check on base after even a beer or two. No way to spend a good TDY, standing in front of the Old Man.

Unless things have changed ( and I don't think they have
) there is a big difference between a " bar" and a "club". There is nothing wrong with a bar if you just want to chill,meet people, play some darts and have a drink. The clubs are more for the dancing and stuff. Depends on what you want. I don't think it's fair to say there are NO decent places close to the bases.
I'm sure Stone Oak has it's share of corner bars.

Actually all of the places I listed are more "BARS" than "CLUBS"... The Pointe is more of a lounge and new york BAR and chicago BAR??? What do you not understand...??? Cross Eyed Seagull is definitely a bar...
