Having moved here from the midwest, where bagel places are plentiful, I've always assumed that the distinct lack of bagel restaurants in San Antonio indicated that there wasn't enough of a market for them. I guess Einstein Bros. is going to find out whether that's truly the case.

There was an Eipstein's Burgers and Bagels at Blanco and 1604. They shut down a couple of years ago, and it's a shame--they were good!

Einstein Bros. are based out of (Lakewood) Colorado. They're pretty good. Here you can also buy them in the Super Target stores - much like you can buy Krispy Kremes in various grocery/discount stores.

yep, that was it. I liked it, too. Best wishes to Einstein.
I am sure I've had them in Atlanta. Goodie!

I just checked out their menu and they don't have salt bagels. That sucks because the pastrami looks pretty good, but for me it has to be on a salt bagel and also has to have havarti on it. I'll stick with BAB and getting the rest at a store.

They have great breakfast bagel sandwiches. If your interested on trying it out you can go by the UTSA campus (it is inside the BSE). Just remember if you park on campus you'll need a permit (temporary permits can be obtained at the visitor's booths). You can also elect to park at La Cantera or another nearby business and walk to the campus (it isn't far and there is already lots of pedestrian traffic in the area). At least then you'll be burning calories. I do encourage everyone to visit the UTSA campus if you haven't been in a while. I was shocked when I returned this semester!

Oh, man, I haven't had a salt bagel in I don't know how long!! When we were kids, we used to ride our bikes to a bagel places and buy (hot) salt bagels. They were...15 cents...
