You know, that's truer than you think. People in tropical climes were often accused of being "lazy" by Europeans because they just didn't move fast (and still don't). Anyone who's lived in the tropics will tell you - that's a survival skill. You don't move fast because it's hot!
San Antonio isn't quite tropical, but the same applies. Well, except that Texans like to keep the a/c so low you need a sweater in summer when it's 100F out.

LOL, if I knew those people/places I'd be at their house/place of business!
Everyone I know seems to keep it at 80, HEB and Walmart included! Oh and me too, due to current circumstances beyond my control. Ugh. I'm dying here. Close enough to "tropical" for me, thanks anyway!

I grew up in RI and still have family/friends there and in MA. I left RI over 20 yrs ago when I joined the Navy and aside from being stationed overseas, have spent most of my time in the South. My hubby grew up in SA and got stationed near the coast in 1997. We both retired and moved to SA last October, where most of his family lives. One thing I will say for sure is that Southerners are much more friendly than those in New England! Even the kids at my daughter's daycare were more friendly than those at her daycare in MA! I don't feel as stressed here as in RI/MA (Except when driving - too many speeders.) One thing about driving - you'll be right at home because they don't like to use turn signals here either! Also, downtown SA has a lot of one-way streets, much like Boston. Although, it is much easier to get around (no tunnels, wider streets, and no BIG DIGs!) The traffic is nowhere near as bad as in DC (We were stationed there for 3 yrs, too) and, although there is a lot of construction going on, it is fairly easy to navigate. The prices of homes are MUCH less expensive and the best part of all --- unlike TAXachusetts, there is no state income tax. It does get down to the 30's in the winter, but no snow to shovel. Our winter temps are usually in the 40-55 degree range, with warmer weather usually arriving in March (65-80 deg). Milder winters have yielded temps in the 60-70 degree range. Hope this helps. Good luck, no matter what you decide!
