That's too bad...if it's clear I would like to change lanes and put my turn signal on, why wouldn't you let me in? Assume that I'm not being a jerk initially (until you give me reason to do so, that is) and my lane change in no way places anyone (especially you or me) in harm's way.

Why? You said just last week that you were driving a Miata with the top down.
Seems to me YOU would be the one getting hurt.

Well, that's where perception comes in. I see those people the same as the ones that wait until the last minute to try to merge when they've been warned for 2 miles that a lane was going to end. I'm in the lane that goes through and others are trying to get around me. I won't stop for them just because they didn't want to wait in line with the rest of the people, or I'm going to blow the person to the left of me off the line and there won't be any need to let me in because I'll already be a 1/4 mile ahead of you..
that's just me though. I'm also the one honking at you if you're slowing down the rest of us by letting one of the impatient ones in.
Also, FYI, I maybe go down that road once every couple weeks, so it's not like it really bothers me much. However, the people that wait until the last minute to change lanes seriously pi$$ me off. Perfect example would be the three lane construction on east 90 this morning right before Lackland. The large sign on 90 announced the construction miles in advance, there were at least 5 vehicles with the bright red and blue strobes at the construction, and there were clearly marked orange cones also, but of course a couple (place a bad word here) are in the left lane until they were within a few feet of the construction and then cut over 4 lanes and forced people like me to slam on their brakes. I just can't stand those people because they seem to think they're more important than me. I consider them worthless trash that belong in the obituaries..

ha, that was one day and only because it was actually cool. I'm normally in a truck and it also happens to have the Mustang GT engine in it, so it's a bit of a sleeper that smokes most cars.

then it would be an illegal and unsafe lane change, so hopefully you have insurance.

how can it be illegal? I'll just be beating you to it? Its actually worse when you dont let a signaling driver in. You do know that right?

and btw Modular engines arent that powerfull to begin with. youre beating the other drivers because of ford's superior rear end gearings.

a turn signal is not a magic button that lets you do anything. If there is a car in the lane you want to go in and you hit it, you are 100% at fault. There is no law that says you have to let a person in just because they are driving with their signal on. This is a perfect example of the drivers I hate in SA. Why would anyone think they only have to signal and others are supposed to bow down to you? That's just crazy and NOBODY else anywhere does that.
Now if there's an accident and everyone is trying to get over, or a police car or ambulance, and even people merging on to the highway. all of those are acceptable. but being a lazy a$$ that doesn't want to wait with everyone else and then expecting everyone to get out of your way. that's rude driving and you seriously need to get off the road.

Once again, if the lane is open then its okay to take it. no a turn signal is not a magic button as you say, but its an indicator that Lets you know of my intention, not to ask for permission if its okay with you! and no its not being a lazy ass its quite the opposite I will be trying to get out of everyones way by getting ahead of the pack. but i respect your views though. youre a smart and cautios driver. But there will be someone with similar but diffrent views around the corner.

ok, I misunderstood. That's the way you should drive and that's how my signal works too. You see it flash in your face after I blow by you
most people in that right lane immediately start crawling along and waiting for someone to let them in. Those are the failures that screw up traffic.

well I wont mind if theres a spot and you take it, thats the way it should be, what would really bother me is that if you would stop and hold up traffic. but ive been driving for too long, so i know how to anticipate drivers moves. wether it be an assertive driver or an idiot that shaving and talking in his cell at the same time lol
