Instead, I would prefer people learn the Texas Transportation Code (specifically Titles 6 & 7) and start abiding by it. It's a brilliant idea, but I'm not holding my breath...
And I do love these new smilies!

I agree. What you think is offensive is your opinion.
The other morning I was driving down Wiseman. I didn't think I did anything wrong and all of a sudden a car came around me real fast and slammed on his brakes, WTH!!! There was nobody in front of him and no stop sign or light coming up. I tried to go around him and then he spend up. When we got to the light and I tried to take a right he stayed there (during the green light) so I could not get around .
Only thing I can think of is that I was driving next to someone (I was in the right lane) and this car couldn't get around us. I guess it pissed him off. Too bad, he should have left sooner!!!

I didn't know law was enforced based solely on opinion.
I also was not aware that most people could not memorize a six-digit sequence of letters and numbers.

My husband still doesn't know his own license plate number! Boggles my mind... When I was younger, I assumed everyone could remember a phone number after hearing it one time (maybe 2 if multi-tasking) but have found that it actually doesn't come naturally to everyone. Some people do not have an affinity for numbers and, as majormadmax mentioned, those are the people who would need to write the plate info down whilst they should be focusing on the road themselves.

Just saw another shining example on my way home the evening. Some guy in a Cayenne, obviously drunk. He couldn't stay in one lane and nearly took out a Mustang. Cayenne driver took off, Mustang driver went after him.
I really wouldn't mind random drunk driver checkpoints going up...

I dropped my sister-in-law off at the airport this morning around 5:45 AM and was by a stupid drunk woman on 410 by Blanco. She was all over the place and didn't hardly notice me laying on the horn. They need drunk checkpoints bad around here. Wouldn't hurt to increase the punishment to on the spot execution either..
BTW, what's up with all the active duty crappy drivers lately? I've had quite a few do really stupid things around me lately and they were in uniform. When I was active duty, they always stressed to remember you're in uniform and people will judge you because of it. Some of the ones lately are some seriously sorry excuses for military personnel, especially when they flip you off and they were the ones doing the stupid driving.

I am assuming that people who could memorize a sequence of letters and numbers would be the most likely candidates to complain about poor driving abilities so it balances out. Is it legal?

Who cares about the legality? That's a really stupid thing to do, or to even think of doing. Pay attention on the road, do your part to make it better out there, and stop pointing the finger at everyone else. I'm sure we have all done stupid things at one time or another while driving. The one that says he/she hasn't is lying.

No idea if this has been mentioned or not, but has anyone seen the billboards (presumably from the Tx DOT?) advertising specialty license plates for Texas drivers.... and one of the "examples" they give is a plate that says "TXTNG"!?!?
Yeah, like that's funny, or something to encourage?
I guess it would be funny if it wasn't SO true for so many drivers.

I saw a texter slam into the back of a car (wasn't paying attention, texting, when traffic stopped on a dime from 35 mph) in traffic a couple of months ago. Teenage boy. Hope he learned his lesson.. he looked stunned when it happened. Too bad he caused a major traffic on 1604W (by Gold Canyon) and obliterated the back of the other people's car in the meantime...
