Apparently all the good drivers are on CD, because all we do is complain about other drivers and talk about how great we are. I think driving in a new city just takes some getting use to. Once you know where you are going, you'll be able to drive more defensively and avoid all the idiots. I run into a few a day, but nothing I didn't see coming. People want to be selfish, so just let them. No reason to cause a wreck and make everyone else get backed up behind it.

I lived in Vegas for a little over a year same for San Antonio, the drivers are CRAZY here. I was in a car accident in Ingram Mall parking lot In Early December and a little Honda drove into my van and totalled it. This is the worst place I've ever driven, the drivers are nuts! I can barely make it to the nearest HEB without a panic attack and totally forget about the highways they are scarier than Freddy Krugar was when I was 13!!!! vegas is easy compared to here!

ha ha, only a few incidents per day.. the scary part is that you actually get used to almost getting in several accidents every time you drive anywhere here. I've been almost around the world and through more than 80% of the states (soon to be almost 90%) and this city is the worst by far. and don't forget there's a really good chance the person that hit you is drunk and doesn't have insurance.

In all honesty, the driving here is the worst of it here in San Antonio. I love it here but still have not exactly gotten used to what seems like rudeness and an attitude of somehow being above the laws. I drive around this city I adore assuming the guy/girl at the yield sign will blaze right through it. I assume the guy on I-10 will change lanes without looking to see if I'm there-it just is part of living here. I've had to brush up on my defensive driving skills. I remember reading 9 months ago on this forum that people would come to a complete stop at green lights and I thought they were crazy. I haven't gotten to that point but I sure do decelerate to see if anyone's planning on running the red. San Antonio is really a wonderful place. You'll get used to the driving-or get the appropriate meds to stop the twitching! Welcome to San Antonio!

But I don't understand how it impacts other cars; they are only using the room between the lanes and don't slow or interfere with anyone else's progress. In Europe, it is also OK for motorcycles to move up to the front of the line at a stoplight, as they can be on their way quicker than cars and that simply means less vehicles building up on the road.

There is NO room BETWEEN lanes.
Maybe it's me, but it's one thing for people to compare how things are done in other US cities, but the constant reference to everything European is simply apples to oranges. I've lived and traveled in Europe/overseas and it's like being on another planet.

I haven't found anywhere in the country where the drivers aren't rude. I live in Austin and the amount of hatred among drivers is phenomenal. Some of the rudest are in Hawaii, also. I had local drivers on the Big Island try to run me off the road because I was going the speed limit and refused to drive 70 through hairpin curves.

I like to just stay home! No driving needed for me! I'll send the men to the store! I can go on walks, save money by not using all the gas and say hi to my friendly neighbors without breaking my neck trying to wave as I whip by in my ride! Its nicer and slower like we like it here!
