Hmmm, I’m not sure. I can’t believe that you've never been asked that question before living here. My guess is you're employed where everyone went to college and knowing where one went to high school is irrelevant. Maybe the question only gets asked around people that never went to college.

well, even when I was working where most people were of college age, the question was always.. where were you going to school?

It must be a race thing and an presumption that if you are white you go to college.., although I am so shocked that mentality is still relevant these days., actually sadly, I am not.

sorry to say., nothing surprises me these days!

I mean, I am just so shocked that the assumption still is that college is 'a choice'. It should be a given that at least you will have more options once you enter the job market.

First of all, not everyone is cut out for college. Besides, college does not guarantee you a great paying job anywhere, not in SA, not in NYC or even EBF Egypt, for that matter. So, yes, college is a choice.

They may be guaranteed a college education (don't know why specifically Reagan HS kids...but ok), but there's NO guarantee that they will have a great paying job afterward.
