Besides Lost Maples? I prefer fall camping to any other season. I've been dying to go back to the Lost Pines in Bastrop for years.

I haven't camped at Lost Pines, but I bet it's nice. Just driving through there is amazing! That's a really gorgeous part of Texas.

Camping where you can fall? Enchanted Rock. J/K but seriously if you have kids, walk behind them. I like camping in the fall because it is not hot in the evenings.

How far do you want to drive? and how long do you want to camp? East Texas has some wonderful State Parks with lakes and beautiful trees.....take it on up into Arkansas ....and up to Eureka Springs for great fall foliage and rolling mountains.

In the opposite direction....Texas Hill Country...Comfort, Kerrville, Ingram, Leakey, Bandera, Lost Maples State Park, Garner State Park and Concan! These are a bit closer for weekend trips.

OH...don't forget Port Aransas and Mustang Island. The beaches are not crowded after school starts, but still warm enough to enjoy the water! Some really nice camp grounds on the beach. South Padre is really prettier for a longer trip......
