Is it just me, or does the man in the lower right hand corner of that photo appear to have cloven hooves? Artiodactyla? I don't have my reading glasses on.

I'm confused. So the Toy Box was not near Woolworth's?

I worked for Toy Box 82-87. The store was orginally on the Woolworth's side. It moved across the Mall to a smaller space in the early 90's.

It seems they have a FB page and the store was ran by the Alwais family which now operate gift shops in hospitals.

Ah Ha. That explains all of the confusion. I didn't spend much time at the mall or pay much attention to where the Toy Box was by the 90's. Thanks for clearing that up.

I actually remember Toy Box being where I remember it at much earlier. Very near the center, if you were standing in the center it was directly northwest, right behind that jewery store, was that a Zales?

You are right, the second location was closer to the center of the mall. I don't remember what stores were next door to it. After about three years at McCreless, I was transfered to the Windsor Park store. I was not with the company when the McCreless store moved to it's smaller location.

The Toy Box was on the same side as Luby's. I know this because I had a preemie son and I used to buy doll clothes for him at the Toy Box, on a regular basis.
It was near Woolworth's at the JC Penney end of the mall. Orange ulius was at the other end of the mall near Montgomery Ward.

I had my first savings account through the school (Inez Foster) and San Antonio Savings Association "SASA" in McCreless Mall ~! 1960's.

Taco Hut had the best puffy tacos with guacamole.OMG!
Floyd's is still there. I drove by it the other day. I wonder if there are still any Shakey's Pizza places. LOL They were across from Floyd's.
Gonna Google Shakey's Pizza now

Default Memories @ McCreless Mall

McCreless Mall - I remember this mall-I really enjoyed shopping there as a kid. I remember my mom and I would go shopping to JC Penney, Fashion Conspiracy, Brooks, Lerners, Luby's, and Montgomery Wards. The Toy Box was a small store but lot's of fun to visit. I remember it located almost in the center of the mall. Zales Jewelers was another favorite.
