Has anybody been to the 2008 Parade of Homes?
Has anybody been to this year POH at Cibolo Canyons? What did you think of the homes and the subdivision in general?
I was surprised at the relatively small size of the lots considering the size and price of the homes (1.0 to 1.6 million dollars I understand)...

I went on Friday night for the preview party and I'd also been through a few times during construction. It's an interesting Parade. The homes are nice, but some of the floorplans are a little choppy. The lots are a bit small, but it's because it's basically going to be a golf course community without being right on the course. Some of the builders did a good job with the lots, some didn't. I'm not going to get into who did well and who didn't, because being a Realtor and working in that market, I've got to keep a good working relationship with all the builders.
I'm not thinking they'll have a problem selling because of the lot sizes, because they're very similar to The Dominion and that really hasn't been an issue. The one thing I'm a little weary of is that to get there, you have to pass a ton of lesser neighborhoods before you come right up on the community, which is only separated by a wall. The views from some of the homes are looking over production home communities.
Not a slam against production home communities at all, but those that buy in that price range want to feel like their community is a little more exclusive. We'll see how that works out.

Liked #7 the best...thought the house that had the "best floorplan" hanging from the info board outside was a joke...both DH and I thought it was the worst floorplan of them all.
I think that, while fun to look at, they certainly don't deserve the $$$ being asked for them...but LOVED the innovative/retro feel of #7. It was one of those, you love it, you hate it homes...but I heard very favorable comments, so we were not alone in loving it.

I LOVED #7!! I fell in love with the entire house, but the mater bedroom and bathroom were the best. I loved the floors in the bedroom and the spa feeling in the bathroom. Mike Holloway always has the best homes in the Parade of Homes IMO. At 1.4 million I'll be waiting a long time before I can live in one of his houses!

We voted for #7, too. No contest, really. Lots of things to like about that one.
I did like the outdoor entertainment area in #1, as well as the observation room (at the top of the spiral staircase) in #5.
I agree with the posts above that the layouts seemed more broken up this year.
The guest rooms were pretty spectacular in some of them. Even though they're way out of my price range, I could be happy if the owners would invite me over once in a while to be an overnight guest.

For it being promoted as a "green" POH, I was VERY disappointed in the complete LACK of the builders promoting environmentally friendly products, etc. Basically the only thing "Green" about them was that they were energy efficient, which, quite frankly, isn't a big deal anymore. No xeriscaping. No "green" countertops. No promoting using recycled materials in the building process.
Either be green, or don't. But don't call yourself green when you're not.

The process of getting to and from there wasn't very green, either. We were made to park at a lot that was over a mile away and rode from the lot to the site on an air-conditioned 60-passenger shuttle bus that probably burns diesel fuel at the rate of 5 or 6 miles to the gallon. Oh, and the bus that took us to the site carried a grand total of 5 passengers as it lumbered down Bulverde Road. I may fall out of my chair laughing if I read about the parade folks crowing about their event's carbon footprint.
