It's not very good. I don't even listen unless I'm in the car, then usually NPR. But I don't like Houston radio stations either.

For the OP. Get the IHeartRadio app & you can listen to live radio stations from around the country. By the way, IHeartRadio is headquartered in San Antonio & NYC.

I’m from Austin and when growing up was raised on those radio stations but they have changed with the times. When I was very young 55 KTSA (a San Antonio station) was one of the most popular stations in Austin.

All FM radio now is pretty much the same garbage: witty FM morning show DJ telling you his CRAZY story of what he had for dinner last night. Some kind of theme-oriented 30 minute lunch programing. Then a drive home section. In the middle is the same old crap over and over and over. It blows my mind that this stuff actually makes the stations money.

I switched to XM radio about 7 years ago and hope to never go back

San Antonio is not great for new music, but there are some unique stations on the air there. Here is the take of a guy that likes music in general.

I love KKYX for Classic Country a

There is a standards station that is on something like 103 FM that is very good.

Tejano 107 was better in the 90's, but it is unique that there are not to many Tejano stations around.

Radio Jalapeno is now in FM which I thought was neat to hear conjunto on the FM dial.

Norteno 104 plays my kind of Mexican music without the over abundance of banda which I am not a big fan of.

KZEP was unique, what other station in the US play Moxie or Judas Priest anymore.

All other stations are mediocre. I might be singing a different tune if I lived in the area, these stations are a novelty to me being I am only there a few times a year.
