Anthony is too classy to say this....but I'll toot his horn instead. He reported that yesterday. I'm telling you....keep your eyes on Anthony. We have the real deal right in our midst and hes top notch. And very humble about it too! He's not just some know it all weather watcher.....he's a rising star in the world of meteorology. And we can say we knew him HERE!!! WTG - Anthony. (Steve Brown consulted with you, didn't he??) Ok...I won't embarrass you anymore!

I'm staying out here in CA too...changing my flights around. Don't want to mess around with this. Not worth the hassle.

I have an appt at UTSA on Saturday at 11:00am. Do you think I should re-schedule due to Ike??
BTW, I am coming from out of town.

Gulf of Mexico Rainbow Color Imagery - Satellite Services Division
SATELITE IMAGERY FOR THE GULF OF MEXICO
You can clearly see the eye wall reshaping and strengthening
Also the little boxes on the top- click on "Trop Pts" to see the current predicted plots of Ike and predicted intensities. "SST" will show you the average Sea Surface Temperatures (in C), and as you can see the gulf is VERY WARM right now
In the discussion, the forecasters are calling for a Cat 4
"IKE MAINTAINED A FAIRLY WELL ORGANIZED CORE STRUCTURE DURING ITS
PASSAGE OVER WESTERN CUBA...THEY HAVE ALREADY DETERMINED THAT THE
MINIMUM PRESSURE REMAINS LOW...968 MB"
"IN ADDITION...THE FORECAST TRACK FOR IKE TAKES IT
NEAR OR OVER THREE WARM EDDIES...REGIONS OF ENHANCED OCEANIC HEAT
CONTENT. THE GFDL AND HWRF CONTINUE TO FORECAST IKE TO REACH
CATEGORY FOUR STRENGTH IN THE CENTRAL AND WESTERN GULF..."

Well as stated before, there is plenty of uncertainty regarding the track now. All I can say is that I am very confident that the storm will hit somewhere along the Texas coast... and it is obviously a very real threat that we may see Hurricane force gusts/winds in San Antonio depending on track. That said, I would wait another day or two to see if the scenario looks different. If not, then definitely cancel.

High school football games have been moved to Thursday night as a result of IKE. Even the schools are erring on the side of caution.

I saw that on TV too. My daughter's school has a cross country meet in Pearsall on Saturday, I hope they cancel it.
I told her she wasn't going whether they cancel it or not.
I'm preparing for the worst with this one.
