Apparently this is pretty big. I was watching KSAT yesterday afternoon and Jim Jenning the GM was incouraging viewers to call other cable companies so you don't lose KSAT.
At the end they had a list of cable companies with their telephone numbers.

We will see Oct 15th. This could be a huge loss for TW. They could loose alot of subscribers.

You really think there are "alot of" people who don't know how to use rabbit ears on top of their TV to watch ABC?

I think there are "alot of" people who don't want to ugly up their living rooms with rabbit ears, would like to record ABC shows on their DVRs, don't want to pay the same price to TW for fewer channels, etc.

I'm in Arizona but my senior citizen parents are back home in San Antonio. My Mom is all concerned because she won't be able to watch her ABC shows. What will they need to do in order to watch ABC?

They will have to switch to another cable provider, or go with satellite or direct tv.
Rabbit ears or tower antenna will only work for a few months, as all stations are reuqired to go digital by Feb 2009.

Rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna will continue to work after the digital switchover. Even though I have locals on satellite, I kept my rooftop antenna as a backup. I got one of those converter boxes with my $40 coupon, and I am receiving local broadcast digital channels (including KSAT) with the old antenna setup I had.

That's incorrect. Even the oldest televisions will still work when hooked up to a simple converter, while newer televisions will work out of the box. You'll still be able to watch television without paying for cable or satellite service.

No way I'm putting rabbit ears on my wall mounted flat screen. Can that even be done?

For nearly 3 years, I've been able to watch KSAT-DT just fine with my set-top rabbit ears and my digital tuner.
