I am planning a move to San Antonio from Tampa, Florida in the next couple of weeks. Since I haven't got a clue which areas are nice to live in, could you please advise? I will be moving with a male friend of mine (we are both in our late 50's )and he needs a garage and will be bringing his two dogs.

What kind of things are you looking for? Schools?, work?, downtown?, suburbs?.
A house, an apartment, townhouse, condo? Near anything in particular like shopping, industry? More wants on your list will get you more responses.

I am looking to rent a house with a one car garage and will accept pets. I will be attending nursing school near the medical center district. I do not have to live near there because I have a car. I will be looking for a part time job and want to be centrally located. Thanks everyone. I need at least 2 bedrooms and would love to have at least 2 bathrooms.

Lots of rentals in The Five Oh. It really is a great area with a good neighborhood association. Just don't let the occasional art work on some of the fences scare you.

You can learn more by checking out Passages, the association newspaper. They have started to carry real estate ads for homes in the area (free to real estate agents trying to move properties within the GNW).

By the way, I'm originally from Tampa (Brandon). You'll enjoy SA, though the Bucs never seem to be on TV here. Welcome.

Default Rentals

I don't know what your price range is so that makes it very difficult, however, Cibolo Canyons has a couple of homes for rent/lease.
They run anywhere from $1595-over $2000/mo, gorgeous yr old homes.

Anywhere between Bandera/Grissom (that's 78250 right?) and 281 inside 410 and 1604 would probably be a good bet for you. That price range and what you are looking for isn't going to be hard to find, imo.

The drive to and from the Medical Center is pretty bad during rush hour so you may want to consider narrowing the search down, but if traffic doesn't bother you then discount my comment.

Yes, I do believe that the price range is going to be hard to find. Even apartments in the central corrider between 410 and 1604 are going for more than that.
