If you'd like to read opinions from members outside San Antonio, here are links to threads in City-Data's other Texas forums discussing Hurricane Ike.

Do you have a hurricane survival kit ? If yes, what does it contain ?

I feel kind of bad for hoping it comes this way, but we could definitely use the rain.

Yea anywhere on the Texas Coast looks possible. But look at the track for the next day.

Cuba is getting hit from one end to the other.... Longways. I have a feeling they are going to need lots of help.

South of Corpus or between Corpus and Galveston are the two best places for it to fall if it's gonna hit Texas. If it is gonna hit then I hope it brings rain to central Texas!

I won't make a call until I know how the storm reacts to Cuba, but Texas is certainly ready.

It's aiming for somewhere between Corpus and Galveston, but could hit anywhere between Brownsville and Mobile..... It's just still too far out to really have a certainty as to where it will land. But keep you posted and up to date, we will.

Let's hope it does not become a Cat-3 or 4...Sept. 1900 most deadly hurricane to hit the US in Galveston. 10,000-12,000 lost their lives. Goodluck to all our fellow Texans on the coast we are with you!

Wow - the whole state is in danger! That's a little bit of political CYA, I think - they've listed every county in the state... Not trying to diminish the threat, but stay calm and be prepared.
