Post moving with horses

We will be moving to San Antonio in October. I am hoping to bring my horses with me. Does anyone know if it is possible to rent a house with land for horses near the city?

I am sure you can find someplace, although it will be a little tougher than what you'd normally have to go through to find a house but a good realtor should be able to find you something. I know there are places because just the other day I was driving through a neighborhood near where I live and I saw several horses being kept behind a house.

Now, you probably won't be able to find a newer neighborhood as most HOA won't allow farm animals to be kept; but if you go a little outside the city limits (just beyond 1604), there should be plenty of places to look at that meet your needs. Right now it is still a buyer's market, so home sales and rentals should be plentiful.

Good luck!

Cheers! M2

Try Realtor.com and define the search for rentals or leases with horses allowed checked under property features. You might need to find a boarding place for awhile until just the right place opens up for you, those places are also great for leads from other horse lovers, google horse boarding. Check areas like Boerne, New Braunfels, Garden Ridge and Spring Branch just to name a few. Also, post an ad on craiglist stating what you are looking for.

There are about 18 properties available for rent in the SA area that allow horses.

Thanks to all who answered and I appreciate all the suggestions. no we are not military. Just escaping the rain in Washington for the winter. I would hate to leave my horses here. We love the San Antonio area and would prefer to be in that area, but if we have to we will look out a little further. Maybe Kerrville, or even the Austin area.
