San Antonio, like L.A. ?
Hello everyone, I was born and raised in Los Angeles California,
Around 1992 L.A got major updates, new and updated freeways, new and improved streets, nice developments... oh! and Traffic was getting worst.
2 years ago my wife and I decided to move to San Antonio. S.A gave us the chance to afford a house and a nice car... We love San Antonio, I think we made the best decision ever. Not that is a bad thing but SA is starting to be like L.A, in many ways. What do you think?
Just Curious, how many people in this Forum came from California, and are noticing the same thing?

No, not even close! I was born and raised in corpus christi and have lived also in austin, dallas and several cities in socal (where i lived for 15 years). although the traffic is bad in some parts, i don't compare it to the commutes that i did in socal, praying that there would not be a "sig alert" ahead (accident or stalled car for the non-calif). although ppl complain that there are lots of illegals here, it is NOTHING like calif' illegal problem. san antonio is crowded, but relative to socal, you can still find wide open spaces in some areas. the gasoline, housing, restaurant, auto registration costs are all lower. i do think that there is more of an opportunity to get a moving violation here though. i don't blame californians for coming here. i just wish that there weren't so many of them.

I grew up in the greater LA area but left in 1987.
In Spring 2001 I flew to San Antonio for a job interview. My first thought as I was being driven down 410, was 'This looks a lot like LA suburbs 20 years ago."
And that to me wasn't a good thing. Since I've been here, it's become more and more like LA in terms of its suburban sprawl.
I like San Antonio and am happy living here, but the ways in which it resembles L.A. are not positive things for me.

Please no. At least you don't have to parallel park everywhere in San Antonio.

I don't think that the two cities could be any more dissimilar than they are, esp. in terms of culture. For starters, one is a world class city with attendant amenities, the other is a provincial burb. It's like comparing L.A. to Flagstaff, AZ. It makes no sense.

Considering not many places anywhere on this planet can match LA culturally, that wasn't the OP's comparison.
Though you injecting that into discussion isn't surprising nor is your blatant insults to San Antonio in not only calling it a provincial burb but also having the nerve to say SA is just a Flagstaff, AZ. lol

I will take the real people of San Antonio over the vacuous vanity of the L.A. scene any time.

Look, I've lived and traveled all over this country and the world for that matter. And I'm here to tell you there are "real" people everywhere.
In fact, every city has a mix of rude, nice, intelligent, stupid, cultured, ignorant, educated, foolish, mean, etc., people.
It always amazes me how some folks think where they live has a superior group of people than elsewhere.
And to the OP: I can see your comparison. Although LA is much larger. I remember it as a child and I can see a lot of similarities.
