Default Good golf course for beginners?

I recently picked up golf, but until now I have restricted myself to the range and the 3-par nine at San Pedro. Myself and my golf-buddies (also beginners) want to try now a 18-hole course, but I would like to start with a relatively easy course, and preferably one in which we could play at leisure (e. g. triple-bogey most of the time), without too much pressure from the people behind us. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, work restricts my ability to play only to weekends, and the wives restrict our play to early morning. Any place not too busy at 7:30 or so on weekends?

Thanks!

There is also a public golf course on the northeast side. It's located in the Northern Hills subdivision.
