There's a Goodwill computer store on 410 (???) around Summit Parkway, well, across from it. Across from that big shopping strip with Souper Salad, Golden Corral, Walmart, etc.
There's some computer store that advertises all the time in the SA Current. Not sure if they're seling refurbished or what but they seem to have some pretty awesome prices. It's usually a huge full page ad in the Current.
There's always Craigslist.

I've never bought anything from Mr. NB, but I have seen there website and advertisements, everything they have seems overpriced. IMHO

you'd probably have more luck looking somewhere like the dell outlet. They carry mostly machines people bought and then changed their mind, so they're new still; some are also scratch and dent. The laptop I'm on now is from the outlet and I've had it for years with no problems. You can probably get a very low end one for around $300 or so and still get a warranty.
edit- I just checked and the cheapest is currently $399. It's a 1525 which is a current model. The specs are a 2 GHz Celeron CPU, 80 Gb hard drive, 2 Gb's RAM, Vista Basic, cdrw-dvd player, x3100 video, and an 802.11G wireless card. It's refurbed, but I bet it was just a return, they usually are. Anything you get around here used is probably going to be at least 2 years old and that will translate to dinosaur. This example isn't the fastest in the world, but it'll smoke almost anything from 2+ years ago.
The main issue with the dell outlet is it moves fast, so if you see something you like, add it the cart and you'll have 10 minutes to decide whether you actually want it. Also, check out coupons online and if you're a Ford owner you can enter the dell site through the fordowner.com site and get 5% off of pretty much anything. http://www.dell.com/content/products...=22&l=en&s=dfh

I know someone who used to buy new old-stock computers on one of the TV channels (like QVC, etc) for cheap prices and resell them. Sorry, but that's about as much as I could tell you.
