Why are there so few blacks in Alamo Heights?
Why are there so few blacks living in Alamo Heights?

No, we did have this discussion.
We discussed certain things about the city of AH but never covered the topic why there is a less than 1 percent black population there.

well since you seem keen to discuss it, it could have to do to the fact that San Antonio's historic African American neighborhoods are on the East Side, and those that are in the middle to upper income brackets moved to the Northeast side rather than go to Alamo Heights. Of course it could be that the Klan runs alamo heights, oh oops there goes that secret.

Probably the same reason that there are almost no black people living in University Park or Highland Park in Dallas.Economics.The average house in AH is about $ 200,000 .That probably puts it out of the range of a lot of black people, and those that can afford it may not want to be the .6% black guy in the neighborhood.

Interesting takes.
Appreciate the input.
Noticed in the Houston forum a person asked for a listing of the prodominantly black neighborhoods that are upper middle class.
Can someone give me a run down of those in San Antonio?

novemberHAWK is right, we did not discuss the factors as to WHY Alamo Heights has such a small minority (black and Hispanic population).
The reason quite simply is money. In the Alamo Heights post, I talked about how there's a very evident "old boys club" in San Antonio made up of all white males running major corporations, despite the city itself being a majority Hispanic.
Given that the median income in AH is probably about $70k now, you have to ask yourself 1. How many jobs in San Antonio pay more than $70k? Less than 10%. 2. How many blacks and Hispanics in SA hold jobs with salaries over $70k? Not many.
Because San Antonio doesn't have as many high paying (over six figure) jobs that Dallas does, naturally the median income to live there would be less. However, it's just as competitive.
Now I'm not going to say this is all a result of racism, because it has been documented that blacks and Latinos attend college at lower rates than whites. However, the glass ceiling that is blatantly obvious in some cities I believe keeps minorities out of high paying positions.
But isn't it interesting that in a city with a 65% Hispanic population, the "rich" part of town is 80% white?
Knowing this, San Antonio is not the place for me, being a high acheiving black male. I know it would be extremely difficult for me to earn six figures here, because more than likely the job would go to someone white. What incentive do corporations here have to promote qualified minorities? None.

Simply not true. Next time you're in Dallas, open up your eyes and notice the many affluent black people around you.
My parents could have afforded to live in UP, but instead moved to Plano because they heard about the racism against blacks and Jews there. Most high achieving black people in Dallas would rather live downtown in a highrise or in North Dallas, or in the suburbs.
Even no black Mavs or Cowboys players live in HP/UP. Deon Sanders lived in Plano half a mile from my house, and Steve Harvey moved in across the street.
