finally, someone else here gets it.
who here has a problem with Duron of SAISD making over $250K a year? he never meets with anyone including parents. he avoids calls, emails, and calls security on concerned parents. NEISD, NISD, and many others make over $200K a year as superintendents. consolidate that into 1-2 people and off the bat there would be an extra $1,000,000+ in the budget.

those cities are smart.
they consolidate. san antonio is once again showing its simplistic views and overlooking the greater good. SAISD, NEISD, NISD, SouthSide ISD, South San ISD, Harlandale ISD, Edgewood ISD, East Central ISD all need to consilidate into one district.
Alamo Heights is its own city, they are entitled to their own ISD. Same with Judson ISD(serves Converse, Live oak, Selma and SA), SCUCISD(Schertz, Cibolo, UC). New Braunfels isd, Comal isd, etc.
The ISD's in San Antonio need to consolidate NOW! it will save money by eliminating some upper level jobs and will help spread $$$ across the city. It will create equality amoung schools. That will put all the schools on similar levels and in the long run could encourage more families to move inside the city and inside the 410 loop and can help eliminate this urban sprawl that rapes the land on the outer areas of the city and causes traffic nightmares 24/7.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I want to ask a clarifying question to make it clearer why you posted this statement. Is your point here that consolidation would prevent your kids from going to a school without those?

I also agree that school districts should be consolidated. But it should be SAISD, Harlandale, Southwest, Edgewood and all those districts within that area.
NISD and NEISD have done very well, have pretty good budgets and have pretty good control on the needs of their district and the students.
But most of the districts that I mentioned that should be consolidated are not willing to consolidate. Why? Because they are not willing to give up their sweet deal.
I can live with 3 school districts within the greater San Antonio area. NISD, NEISD and SISD.
