I don't disagree, but that is because people around here don't follow the laws of the road and it is even more aggrevating when you do and almost have an accident because some bozo doesn't feel they have to yield the right-of-way!

At least if you get rear-ended stopping at a yield sign it won't be your fault! I know that doesn't help much, but it is still much better than causing an accident!

Cheers! M2

ciJay is on a distinguished road
So if on the access rd. there are two lanes, which changes to three lanes when the exiting traffic enters (one lane for the exiters, and the original two). So, before the yield sign there are 2 lanes, after the yield sign there are 3 lanes. None of the lanes are merging together, there is just one more lane being added to the two. If I'm on the access rd. in the left lane approaching the yield sign (which will be the middle lane after the yield sign), and a car is exiting the highway and entering the access rd. Do I have to yield to them, even though they have their own lane when they exit (they will be in the left lane, I will be in the middle lane)?

Yes, you have to yield to all traffic regardless of what lane they are in. If you have a yield sign and someone coming off the main road wants to merge all the way over to the far right lane, you have to give them the right-of-way. It is that simple, there is no law that states only the lane adjacent to the incoming lane has to yield the right-of-way...all traffic on the access road has to yield and stop if necessary.

Let me know if you need the specific law within the Texas Transportation Code.

And be sure to tell all your friends! Maybe once people learn the true meaning of the yield sign, accidents will decrease!

Cheers! M2

Talking Yield Signs

I read this whole entire thread and I have to say at moments I was "right on" with people and at other moments I was "you're the one I'm wailing my hands at, when I've had a bad day at work and mad because you don't know how to drive." Now given this is a matter of my opinion.

I have been on both ends of the yeild sign drama. I have hit someone who was stopped at a yield sign, because I thought they were going because I looked and saw no cars, and I bumped into her. I have been on the other end where I have been hit at a yield sign, because at first I thought it was okay to go, but a light had turn on a protected turn signal and they started turning and I had to yield to them, so the guy behind me bumped me. I had to "stop" at the yield sign, because the way was not clear. I don't think people are intentionally stopping at yield signs. IMO, I think people in San Antonio don't yield local or not.

The reasons why locals like the access/Frontage roads is because they think they can go just as fast on them as on the highway making it hard to slow down to yield to someone who is coming off the highway.

I think if we were all a little nicer to each other the roads wouldn't be so bad. You know when I was a child growing up and watching my parents drive, when they let someone in they waved a hand as a gesture to say thank you. I never see this anymore. Maybe it's a southern thing? I try to always make it a point when someone lets me on to wave and know that I appreciate their kindness. So, do it to me too!!

People make mistakes because the road system is messed up. San Antonio highways weren't built thinking that over a million people would be living here at some point. Thank God we aren't as crowded as Houston, Dallas, and Austin. A little love on the road would go a long way.

This native San Antonioian just wants the love to spread on the road, so start spreading it!!

Not sure why it matters wether it is called the 10 or IH10.. does it make that much of a difference? and further more.. they are now helping build San Antonio to a bigger and better city by contributing their tax dollars and paying other things such as spending money in your business.. I would think you need to roll off on the right side of bed and talk to the mirror when you are grouchy about something like that... There are more things to be mad about then that.

No one I know refers to the loop as Anderson Loop...Loop 1604 or 1604 will do. Of course, now the street signs say something like: W Loop 1604S (West side of town heading South on Loop 1604) depending on where you're at on the road.

Again, I ask.. does it matter if it is called Loop 1604, Anderson Loop, or 1604? I mean what does it really matter? If I say 1604 and you say Loop 1604.. its still the same thing.. the road (highway) that goes around the outside of San Antonio Texas.. and everyone in this city knows it..

I say Route and you say (route)Root.. same thing.. different way of saying things based on where you are from.. who cares.. I know what you mean..
