Just a little beef (and a late night and can't sleep)

In Texas, highways are known by names such as I-10, 1604, 410 and 281.

When you call the highways "the 10", "the 1604", "the 410", and "the 281" it is a dead giveaway as to where you are from.

While I am definetely glad that all you Californians are moving here (truly I am), I hope you don't call 1604, "the 1604" when you are looking for a new home as I am sure the seller will know where you are from and take serious advantage of you and the bundle of cash in your pocket after you sold your home in Cali.

Buenos noches.

Don't even call 410 "410" call it the loop! If you want to be fancy call 281 the McAllister freeway, and for a throw back 1604 will always be "the death loop"

The californians can have crummy old texas. As soon as possible I am getting the heck out of San Antonio and Texas will be a thing of the past!

I hate Texas and it's summertime heat.

He he, one by one they come, one by one they go. The heat separates the men from the boys, and the women from the girls! You can have your exorbitant real estate prices and cool temps! I'll keep my frizzy hair and my high ac bill! San Antonio rules.

How come there's a "Frontage Rd." at almost every exit? It must be confusing for those who live on this street.

I "hate" Canada and it's summertime cold.

I dream of whole summers above 85 F.
I don't care if I need ice cold drink every hour or so.
It isn't too hot for me if the temperature itself isn't burning me.

That's much nicer than needing a coat from a strong north wind in July, causing brisk afternoons in the mid-high 50's, 30 mph wind gusts under overcast skies.

Mark Twain said it best. The coldest winter I ever spent was August in San Francisco.

Regarding road names (just to affirm that this is ON topic), I found two very curious things when I moved to SA and lived at Blanco and West Avenue. First, I couldn't believe that in a city with a largely Hispanic/Latino population that the word Blanco would be pronounced with a short vowel sound "A." Second, I would tell friends to pick me up at Blanco and West, and they would never know what I was talking about until I said West AVENUE. How odd that only that one street requires the "avenue" to be understood at all (i.e., you don't have to say Blanco ROAD, or Huebner ROAD, or San Pedro AVENUE to be understood). I wonder why that is...

West is a Directional. It can be for example as WEST ashby place. Just like if there was a hypothetical North Avenue you would have to distinguish it. you couldn't just say the corner of nacogdoches and north. North what...north new braunfels, n. st. mary's, get it?

What about all the "military" roads... it seems to criss-cross all over the city and then just ends. Our moving van ended up lost across town on some other "branch" of military road.
