Default New to San Antonio!!!

Hello..

I'm a 23 year old single graduate student looking to meet new friends and find out about any interesting places in San Antonio. So far I haven't had the best of luck finding much to do around here. I'm here alone so any advice on where to go and how to make friends in this city would be great!

Oh come on! Give the kid a break.
To the OP... try reading the sticky posted at the top of the San Antonio forum for an overview on life here. You can also use the search function in this forum to search on terms such as "party", "nightclub", "sports", or any thread started by Crystaldude

What are your interests? What are you looking to do? Outdoors type? Nerdy (in a non-offensive way) type? Artsy type? Bars (Wine? Cigar?)? Music (Live? Cover bands? Indie?) Clubs? Dancing (Cha Cha? Salsa? Ballroom?)? Hooking up? Whatcha lookin' for? I'm kidding in most of my examples but it helps to tell us what you are looking for. This city is actually pretty large and interests are varied (contrary to some people's beliefs). You gotta know what you're looking for before we can share our love for/ knowledge of the city

Cool specifically....

Well I would really like to find places to just hang out..drink a glass of wine or beer, listen to some music, etc. I'd also like to find a safe trail where I could go jogging or walking. I live on the Northside, close to 1604. I have found a few places where I can hang out but its always just so awkward going to these places alone.

Are you just new to the city starting out grad school? Are there any activities associated with the university you're attending?

Celeste mentioned Meetup.com in another thread. Check out the SA groups and see if there is anything there that fits your interests. Some are large groups some are small....and you can get to know some of the member online first before attending any gatherings. They are a great way to meet new friends and get you out of the house!

Good luck and welcome to San Antonio!

All of this info is on her profile! Check it out!

aivasq - I see you're working on your MS in psychology. From reading posts on this forum and knowing some of these people personally, you have a lot of fodder to work with.

I'm not familiar with the side of town you live on, but I can say, be adventurous! I know it's awkward to go out by yourself, but you'll find that most San Antonians are friendly and willing to show you around.

Looks like you live near OP Schnaebel Park, it is a safe place to hike/walk/jog as long as you pay attention to the cliffs.

Wine.. there are some nice wine places, Bin 555, 29 Brix (22506 Us-281 N) are a couple that come to mind.

Music, that's a wide open forum.. what type of music do you like to listen to? Do you like to dance also?
