Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can share some information/insight on DRHorton homes and Amhurst Subdivision. I had a neighbor tell me today that we should really look at Amhurst and DRHorton when we PCS to Lackland in March.
Thanks
Liby

Well, I agree with your neighbor. Amhurst is a very nice subdivision, centrally located. We've been here almost a month and we really like it. There are a lot of military families here, pretty much everyone on my street is military. There is a playground and a swimming pool in the community. Sea World is about 10 minutes away and I can actually see it in the distance if I look out my back porch. Fiesta Texas is probably about no more than 20 minutes away. Lackland is probably about 15 minutes away.

DR Horton builds very nice homes, with really good craftsmanship. The floorplans also are very well laid out and very open.

The elementary school is brand new, just opened this school year. The name of it is Forester. I'm not sure what the middle and high schools are, though.

Anything else you want to know about Amhurst, please feel free to DM me!

Middle schools is going be around talley road, and the highschool is on wiseman, currently they are calling it Potranco W. Highschool, but I'm pretty shure they might change the name.

I just bought a DR Horton home in AR. I absolutely love it. The homes are built well, the whole experience was great, and I love the floor plan. I actually know the salesman at Amhurst - good guy. Also, DR Horton is an energy home builder - I hope I labled or said that correctly. Anyway, I have a 2,087 sq ft home. I have lived here since May and my largest CPS bill has been $130. Amazing if I could say so. I have been impressed by this! The combination of gas and electric really makes the difference!

DR Horton is still building in the Amhurst Subdivision. They offer 16 different floor plans. As of today there are three new homes available and twenty pre owend, per the local MLS. The schools for the area are Nora Forester elem. Luna MS. and Stevens HS. Stevens is possibly capped, so Taft HS would be the alternative. The Schools are in the North Side ISD. The price range for the available homes are from $145,000$246,742. Moderator cut: see comment

I don't know about that particular subdivision, but we are building with DR Horton right now in Cibolo and its been a great experience so far. We looked at LOTS of houses and lots of different builders prior and DR was definitely our top pick.
