I am looking for some New Zealand lamb chops near San Antonio area. Anyone know where I can find some?

Ray, you're in luck!

Cooper's Meat Market

This place gets rave reviews.

I have seen them at Costco - I am pretty sure of that. Central Market might have them as well.

I'd love to go by the Cooper's place, looks great.

That reminds me. Are there any traditional butcher shops in or near Alamo Heights? Cooper's seems more along the lines of Omaha Steaks with vacuum-packed meats.

Oh I see- it doesn't look like it's an actual market. They say this:

Now this same extraordinary quality can be yours at home by ordering your steaks direct from Cooper's Meat Market , and have them delivered to your door.
So you can't go by there and pick something up?

EDIT - Guess not. Check this out:

Shipping charges
Continental U.S. orders less than $100 $52.50
Continental U.S. orders over $100 $62.50

EEKS!

No....it's an actual market. But you can also order if that's your preference!

But Cooper's is not the kind of place where you can walk up to the counter and get custom cuts of meat, right? I've never been there, but I assumed it was like the Omaha Steaks shops we have around here.

Regardless, it did just occur to me that Central Markets typically have nice meat departments with actual butchers on staff who might know a thing or two about New Zealand lamb chops.

ed....Coopers has been there about 10-12 years I think. I drive by it frequently. I'll check it out soon. They may have changed the way they do business, but they did used to be a full service butcher.

I agree with the Central Market suggestion too. I shop there often....but I'm not a big fan of lamb so I can't answer that particular part of your question.

If the OP is looking for a restaurant that serves EXCELLENT lamb in San Antonio, I suggest Frederick's off Broadway.

I recently had the Australian Rack of Lamb at Kirby's in Stone Oak and was disappointed.

Maybe it's possible the OP is looking for dining suggestions vs cooking......

Unsure but good luck in your chop search!?!
