My husband is Air Force and we are moving to San Antonio at the end of this year. We have a 3 year old boy. Unfortunatetly, due to our inability to sell our home in Virginia, we are looking for a rental home in SA. We have a realtor that sends us almost daily listings of new houses that come on the market for rent. (It unbelievable how many homes there are!!) Some good, some not up to par. The problem we have is knowing whether the houses are in good subdivisions or not...

We are looking to spend a max $1400/mo. for rent. We'd like ammenities such as a park, jogging areas, pool, etc. but that's not mandatory.

We are looking for a relatively short commute to Lackland, but the most important thing would be for a safe neighborhood.

So...what's good, what's bad? Any subdivisions we should specifically AVOID??

Thanks in advance for any input. Please feel free to privately message me if you are uncomfortable with listing what subdivisions to avoid.

I would recommend any in Alamo Ranch (Culebra/1604) area. Lovely area and neighborhoods. Potranco/1604 area is nice as well. Have friends who live out near that area and love it. I personally live in alamo ranch but in an apt for the time being. Great area.

Potranco/1604 would be ideal for you. Im not too sure about ALL the amenties in Westcreek, but I know it has a pretty decent park.

There are some nice neighborhoods between Potranco/1604 and Hwy 90/1604 (Laurel Mountain, Hillcrest, WolfCreek, Legacy Homes). I live in that area and lots of my neighbors are military. Very Convenient to Lackland (about 10-15 mins).

I'm from VA so I know its hard to sell a house there especially now. Hope that helps.
