Not a high-rise - plans are for a 4-story apartment project (Chancellor from Houston is the developer). But given current climate for real estate debt/equity, it might not get out of the ground for the next 12-18 months. It's tough to get bigger deals financed right now.

Oh - and it's not on the Billy T's site - it's where an old apartment project and a nasty hotel used to be.

I've been wondering about the slowing demo on along Austin Hwy. Seems to have come to a screeching halt. I remember many commercial ground floor projects being shelved for a while after 911/Enron in 01. I think everyone is holding their breath right now.

dvlpr is correct. The condo/apartment project is slated for the site where the former Bentwood Apartments and the two motels that flanked it are currently being demolished.

But there is also the site in the next block where the former Landscape Marketplace was located. The Billy T's site abuts that property. I noticed site work has begun at that property, and the general contractor's sign has been placed on the temporary construction fence in front. I don't know if the old Billy T's is part of that project, but unconfirmed rumors were that a 2-story office building was planned for Landscape Marketplace site.

Actually, after a few months of inactivity, some actual demo is now visible. Good riddance!

Update for today...the landscape location was almost totally cleared today! Wow....fresh rich earth! No Bentwood Apts! But Billy T's is still there are boarded up.

The other location with the motel demos is still in mid crunch and standing. Not much done there this week at all.

Correction....the landscape location is cleared....the Bentwood apts are smack in the middle of what appears to be on hold...motel sandwich!...three in a row.
