Starbucks apparently wasn't requiring "proof". At my polling place they had no stickers so they gave me a little piece of paper stamped "VOTED" with the date written on it. We went to Starbucks and presented our slips of paper, but while we were there a bunch of people came in and simply said 'We just voted!' and got their free coffee without any proof. So I guess the legal issue is why...

I have not been offered, nor have I asked for, a sticker in the last few elections. I remember they used to all but but it on you when I first began to vote. Not that I would want a cup o' coffee & sugar ball. The chx sammy might have been nice.

FWIW, when I went in to vote today there was NO line. They all said I had good timing. One person working even mentioned, wow that was fast. I just figured one would know what they were voting on when they got there.

Let's take the behaviorist approach and call it a reward for good behavior! Reinforcing the positive. A little something for those that are doing the right thing.

Maybe I'm just a little to trusting in human nature, but I can't imagine that someone is going to vote JUST so they can get a few freebies. Now, I DO know that there are folks that will try to get the freebies even though they did NOT vote. And they are probably among the people that will gripe and whine and complain about the outcome...

My wife and daughter voted today and were in and out in under 10 minutes. My son couldn't find his card and also wasn't on the computer, so he couldn't vote. He was pretty disappointed.

I keep my card in my purse for those kinds of voting emergencies!

Does Bexar county not do provisional ballots? That's what's got NC all jammed up today with their results. They are still sorting out the provisional ballots that people voted even though their registration status could not be verified.

Hopefully your son learned a small lesson about waiting until the last minute when so many early voting opps were available!

I'm guessing that his Daddy had a nice little convo with him about it! Just a guess.

Beto's gave us free chips & queso and a cup of fideo each simply because it was election day. They didn't even ask us if we voted that day OR at all (FYI: we voted early). Just thought I'd throw that in there.
