Default Blanco Rd Expansion - question

The last two nights my wife has been pummeled with traffic on her way home when she traverses this area. Tonight she said there was a traffic cop out there directing traffic as the lights were blinking red at blanco and huebner. It took her over an hour to come home and she works about 7 miles away.

Does anyone know whether this is standard and will continue (the traffic directing cop)? Does anyone know why it is giong down like this? Does anyone know (highway man - I am looking at you) when the huebner and blanco intersection will be done. Hard to imagine it being like this for a long time, but what do I know other than frustration......

Just went throught it myself. The traffic going northbound is worse than usual, for sure. It took me 20 minutes from Whataburger to Huebner. I did not realize that the intersection was half closed...but they were working on it. My thought is that, while there is active work going on, there will be a traffic cop.

Whenever lanes are temporarily closed within or immediately adjacent to a signalized intersection, it is standard practice to use a traffic cop to control traffic at the intersection.

That entire project is due to be completed in June 2010. I don't know when that intersection specifically will be done, but after reading that article at Stone Oak Info, I'd say next Fall at the earliest.

Oh; the pain!!!! I spent an HOUR this morning coming home from taking my daughter to school at Wilderness Oak Elem (on Wilderness Oak) -- I was only going three miles. The light at Blanco and W.O. was not working, thus traffic not stopping on Blanco to allow W.O. traffic to turn. Finally! A police officer showed up to get things moving. It's a mess... and I"m a very patient, patient person in traffic, and I was maxed OUT. Hope they get the intersection sorted soon.

Oh yea, and you can forget about going the long way out to Stone Oak Pkwy. like I did on Wednesday-it wasn't any better! They need cops out here everyday just like they post on the freeways when they are doing construction. It doesn't help that our lights out here have never been synchronized and let like 4 cars go before they change again.
Why they are closing these roads during the day is beyond me, close them at night and work then. I don't live close to the road, you won't disturb my sleep!

Makes me rethink going to Mays YMCA anymore! It's just a pain to commute for practices and games! Half our teammates were late on Wednesday, one said she was in front of Target for at least 30 minutes. Another friend got in an accident there. Crazy traffic.

June 2010? Wow that's a long time.

I wish the Mays YMCA would burn down. I'm tired of the traffic that place causes on the weekends.

Just a little update... the "mess" at the intersection at Blanco and Huebner was finished this afternoon, police officer gone and lights working. This should make mornings and evenings somewhat back to normal... whatever "normal" is in a construction zone that will be a construction zone for quite a while longer.
