I don't see any "swamps" either, maybe on the southeast side of town there are some marshy areas...
Houston has wetlands.

Someone in a previous post said watch out because Houstonians "lie" about San Antonio... sounds to me like there's more of a problem from the other side!!
What lies are being told?

The ones that you are typing. Last time I checked, most of San Antonio's development came from large suburban office/retail parks. Must be a lot of concrete with that. At least what the Katy Freeway is going over is not green space. Also, pine and oak trees are being planted on either side of them. If you didn't know, Dallas-Fort Worth has more freeways than Houston, and have proposed more. Nice try though.

Oh, and those wetlands are only in a small section on the far east side. Two rivers and the Port of Houston are the cause of it. North Houston and parts of the west side are part of the most forested areas of Texas. There are prairies to the south, and small to medium sized hills in the northern part of the Woodlands and Conroe.

Nice try on what? I never said Houston had more freeways. I called the Katy Freeway expansion monstrocious and that it cancels out any small downtown park.

Maybe the person requesting the info should think about housing costs. Can anyone tell us what the relative costs of housing might be, INCLUDING differences for house insurance? Is the cost of house insurance much more in Houston due to floods and hurricanes?

Ok, go to realtor.com and check out some of the Houston neighborhoods toward the center of town (e.g., 77023, 77004) and compare prices to what you would get in the Jefferson/Monticello area of San Antonio. NO COMPARISON. Houston is such a better deal. Not only do you get a more liberal (somewhat , diverse, and therefore more sophisticated city, but the houses with character cost MUCH less for what you get. Holy crap, packing my bags...

You're right, in Houston, you can get this gem for $56,000.

In SA this gem is a a whopping $55,000

Hello, what character are you seeing? All I saw was old and some dilapidated homes for 60 or 70 thousand.

What's the difference between this 1,048 Sq. Ft. 2 bedroom, 1 bath in Houston.

And this 1,196 Sq. Ft. 4 bedroom, 2 bath home in SA? In terms of "character." In terms of bang for buck, SA wins.
