We would want to move to either Katy or the woodlands in Texas and in San Antonio a friend of mine suggessted Stone Oak(can anyone tell me the name of the communites within stone oak) Are the home price's about the same? Is the weather the same? Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated!!

I think that question can be answered quite easily if you tell us what city you are moving from. If you have lived in a vibrant place and are used to that, move to Houston. If you are from a small town and enjoy that mentality, move to SA. Good luck!

Katy has horrible traffic, but it's a decent city. The Woodlands is very nice, but again, if you stay in the Woodlands, you won't have to deal with the traffic. If you or your husband commutes to Houston to work, then you're looking at traffic woes.
And San Antonio IS a very vibrant city.

Thanks we are coming from the west coast of Florida(clearwater area)... My husband is semi retired so it will be unlikely he would be traveling into the city. He has his real estate licence here... he may get his texas license.. he has sold cars so commuting wont be an issue Is there any difference in the weather about prices on homes? TIA

The humidity in Houston is much, much worse than San Antonio. I would never move to Houston, the traffic is terrible, the people are rude and when you walk out of your house you feel like you are walking out into a steamroom.

I would move to San Antonio then. In my opinion, the only benefit for you in Houston would be more social diversity and the sophistication and more open-minded values that tend to accompany that, as well as more world class arts, etc. Weather in SA would be better.

I had the choice of Houston or SA when I moved here a long long time ago. I chose SA becasue it looked smaller, less congested and potential for growth. All hunches were correct.
but remember you are asking people who live in SA and not Houston.I hope you posed the question in the Houston room too.
One other point to remember...everyone in Houston tells lies about SA.
It's only a 3hour drive if you need to see it after you move to Sa.

Living in both Austin and Houston, I did not feel a huge difference in humidity... looked it up and it was only 10% average difference. I would say the rudeness and humidity are exagerrated here... I've found the people to be nice for the most part.

Hmmm, sounds like a bad generalization to me...
Then again when I lived in Austin people told me the most horrid things about Houston, which I found out later to be mostly untrue...

Almost like when the Olympic officials were scouting cities. They went to Dallas first and almost everyone they met with said "Watch out when you go to Houston. They have a lot of mosquitoes." Well, the Olympic committee came to Houston, and no one was bitten a single time. Soon after, Dallas was eliminated, and Houston kept going (competing with New York and San Francisco).
