Any one know of any great OUTDOOR places in or around San Antonio to take family photos at. Please don't tell me about the McNay...everyone goes there.

  • Botanical Garden
  • Japanese Tea Garden
  • San Antonio Missions. Mission San Jose in particular. Works really well for black and white, or sepia toned photos.

On the far north side there is a nice stone tower on the corner of Bulverde Rd and Bulverde Oaks.

I second the Japanese Tea Gardens, it's amazingly beautiful now that the remodel is complete (they still need more Koi IMO).

Another good site is Gruene, TX north of New Braunfels. Great scenery, including rapids on Guadalupe River. Gruene Hall is nice.

I also think Mission San Jose would be a great an very interesting place to have some family photos done. Gives an interesting and great flavor to the photos. We were there recently doing some sight seeing and got some great shots!

Antique Rose Emporium
Brackenridge Park
South end of the riverwalk toward King William
Hemisfair Park & La Villita
Riverwalk - there are some nice areas near La Villita that aren't crowded with restaurants. We did pictures there a couple years ago early one Sunday morning and it wasn't busy at all.
