"Blank-O" really?? it sounds like a facial expression you get when you don't know how to pronounce something! lol the "a" has more of an "ah" sound to it (almost like you would say the "o" in "blonde"). Blanco. And I don't think that the tone of your skin should determine how you say it either. My uncle who lives in town is very much "light skinned" and he still pronounces it the right way.

Please note that I made no distinction with regard to skin color. I indicated that Spanish-speakers (they come in all colors) who anglecize Spanish names irritate me.

i don't think it was you, it might have been someone else. It just bothers me
i mean, i remember one time the guy on the weather channel called our western neighboring county "Med-in-uh" (instead of "Med-eee-nah).
And then once when I was 4 I remember there was this tortilla comercial with this cowboy and he couldn't say tortilla right to say his life (he kept saying the ll's as you would in english and not the "y" sound) and it made me so frustrated because this grown-up couldn't say it right but i could....
....it just makes me want to yell and throw my shoe..........

Precisely why I said in San Diego, which is much closer to the border and has a higher influx of Spanish-speakers...yadda, yadda, yadda...should be better at the Spanish names...but, whatevah!
Of course, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a NATIVE San Antonian who will resort to San PEEdro! *lol*

Ok...then consider yourself educated...you're mispronouncing it.

No...I was saying that I've heard people say "Pee (long e)dro" and you said you pronounced it that way. The correct pronunciation would be with a short "e"...as you have in your first pronunciation.
