For the correct pronunciation of San Antonio street and place names, find some old Henry Guerra recordings.

What does Henry Guerra consider "correct"? Does he cover all languages? How does one find his "recordings"?

The theme here is not about pronouncing it according to ethnic origin....it's about how it's pronounced regionally.

For example "Houston" St...or the city of Houston is pronounce "HYOOS-tun". With the exception of some leaving off the "H" and pronouncing it "YOOS-tun".

In NYC.....it's pronounced "HOUSE-ton". So which is correct for this region? Do you see the point? And yes, there are many exceptions where two pronunciations could be correct.

Hold on a minute! Are you guys serious about BLANK-o? Like, as in, the word for 'white' in spanish, spelled b-l-a-n-c-o, that big street in SA, also spelled B-l-a-n-c-o is pronounced BLANK-o?!?!?! Oh my gosh.....I don't know if I could do it, ya'll. What's the reaction if someone says "Blahn-co"? Is it like someone saying they'd like to order some "Fuh-jeet-uhs" at a mexican restaurant, except in reverse?

Oh, and whoever said "sherry"....that cracks me up!!

Hahahaha! I mentioned this to my husband last night who moved out of S.A. when he was 9 years old, and he still remembers people calling it BLANK-o. The best part is that even though he has always spoken spanish and english, when he was younger he didn't realize that it was actually the word "blanco" so he said BLANK-o too! I love it...
