OH! DeZavala! When we first moved here I had called on an ad for a house for rent in the Shavano Park area. When the guy was giving me directions, I thought he said to turn on "Days of Alla"!!!! Still laugh about that when I remember it!

OMgosh!!!!! I am laughing so hard at "Days of Alla".....that is priceless. Actually....that's a good way to remember it!

When I moved back here, La Cantera was a new area for me. I had not seen it written, so I thought they were saying "Loch and Terra"....or something to do with the Lochness monster!....earth and water?? I don't know.....I think I like my verson better!

Default How do you pronounce...

The Aransas (not sure if I spelled it correctly) for Port Aransas? (I know it isn't in SA, but it isn't that far right-- a couple of hours)?

Can't figure out how to say it...

Sapphire...good one! I struggled with this one for years. A friend finally MADE me say it right! LOL....I've heard it a couple of ways....your pronounciation is one of them. A slight variation is:

REF yur ee oh (emphasis on the first syllable)

(I'm not sure what locals in Refugio say! Anyone from there??

One that stumped me is Tow. You would think it's tow, like tow your car. It's actually Tow, like cow or now. ???

Guys, how do the locals in the hill country pronounce LLANO? I think I hear the majority say it as L-A-NO rather than the Spanish version of Y-A-NO because LLANO was not named with Mex/Spanish references in mind. Correct?
