I've always said and heard Lan-o. But like with everything, just because hundreds are doing it, it sure doesn't make it right! Anyone from there know for sure?

Thanks for that info. I sent an email to the city, of course they never replied. NO one ever replies in the hill country! I guess they are all outside enjoying the land and the weather.

Good to know!
I always pronounce it "yano" because of the Cooder Graw song "LLano Estacado." lol.

A few other place names I dont recall seeing on this list yet......
San Jacinto....proncounced with the soft "J" as in "jack" and not the Spanish H, ...San JA-cin-to
Elgin..... hard "G" sound, rhymes with "again" ....little town east of Austin, known for hot link sausage ( Meyers is my favorite)....
Waxahatchie.....this is still up for grabs.....about evenly split on WAX- a - hat-chie and WHAHX-a-hat-chie...have heard it both ways from townsfolk

Just make sure that when in the medical center area you pronounce it "Louie Pasteur" and not "Louis Pastuer".....also, when eating at Shilo's call them "Sheelo's"
