Good God, no! Don't tell me it's blank-oh..that's the color...that's like saying we should call Paris, Texas, Puh-ree, Texas...after all, the french would call it that. With that logic, we would call it Bay-HAR...like we were coughing up a fur ball. This isn't a spanish language test...it a Sanun Tonyo thang...Mexican, German, Czech, Poles, Irish, Canary...don't make this an ethnic thing. It's not only Texas...It's PURO San Antonio!

That one is really funny! Whoever named it, didn't know how to spell, or was dyslexic...or both! How did the "r" get begfore the "ath"?

My daughter went to MacArthur High School. The mascot is the MacArthur Brahmas. Almost everyone out side the school pronounces the word "brah -mahs"......but they are taught on the first day of school that it is pronounced "bray-mahs"!

Default Oh, But There's These

Incredibly, we've gotten this far, and no one has yet mentioned Manchaca (pronounced man-shack). That's the street in southwest Austin that goes to the small community of Manchaca going outbound from U.S. 290. And there is the river in the Hill Country that's spelled Pedernales, but it's pronounced purr' duh nah' lus. That one's a real lulu.

Chillicothe - Chill a coth ee (actually had a movie set in it back in the day - now, who was in it?)

Quanah - named after the indian Quanah - Qwuahn ah

Correct pronunciation of Quanah "KWAN-uh"... but that was only his first name. His name was Quanah Parker.

Chillicothe movie? Never heard of a movie filmed there... closest I've heard of was Archer City - The Last Picture Show and Texasville were both filmed in Archer City.

The Texas Film Commission has a Texas Filmography which doesn't list any movies filmed in Chillicothe.

Edited because on re-read, the OP said "set in", not "filmed in".
