texdav.....you're exactly correct, regarding a memorial to Nimitz. I think the point was that this museum that is closing is more of a generic WWII museum and the dilemma of where it could be relocated. Nimitz might not be the best choice unless some of the Naval items could go there (if there are any). As a history enthusiast I would love for all of it to find a good home where it's appreciated for it's value to the widest audience. But that's just me!

FWIW, the museum in Fredericksburg is hosting what may be the last Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Convention this December.

YW. I really didn't think there would be any discussion--I just wanted to get the word out about the free admission today, and the fact that I've never even seen/heard of this museum. Sad, really. But look! People are talking and maybe something good will come of it. We owe so much to our vets!
