King sheets fit Cal king beds? Seriously? that would suck so bad it's not even funny.. I've been ordering them online since I got here in 2001 and they're always cheaper in the store.
an online search says king is 76"W x 80"L and Cal king is 72"W x 84" long

It's not all Wal-Mart's "fault". However, a court could find that Wal-Mart contributed to the situation and was negligent in how they handled it. These are the arguments a lawyer would make, and they are arguments that have won similar cases, and created a lot of precedence.

I understand you. I just get disgusted when there are lawsuits, and the guilty start holding their hands out, as if they don't have blood on them. I need to just not keep up with this one, as I'm sure it's just going to **** me off.

I'm a lawyer hater myself, but when a store hangs out signs pointing to the blitz line, they've crossed the legal boundary and stepped deep into the **it
and I would say that for any store, not just walmart. The morons that got suckered into the hype are also responsible, but I think you'd have a hard time suing them for being stupid. If you could, I'd make a billion a day just by driving back and forth to work.

So, if they have signs that say "shop till you drop" and you pass out, it's their fault? If you eat a 52 ounce steak because it's free if you finish it, and then you have a heart attack, it's the restaurant's fault?

ok, now you're stretching it a little bit. I think you have to sign something before you eat one of those steaks. Besides, they don't actually purposefully set it up so you choke on the meat or place things on the floor that will make you fall down while shopping. This situation was specifically set up so that "people" would flood in like animals. Stores like Best Buy give out numbers a couple hours ahead of time, so it's already determined who is going to get their choice of the best deals and who's going to get table scraps.

Best Buy seems to have a pretty effective approach to the crow control angle: they set up corrals, dividing people up by the time they started standing in line, and they only let in fifty or a hundred peopl at a time. Plus, they often hand out numbers and encourage you to come back later in the day to pick up your item. At one store I saw on the news, they even let the first hundred people in line in the door half an hour before opening time, which meant that those people were holding their purchases and standing in line at the cash register ready to go when the store officially opened.
If the Wal Mart stampede goes to trial, that's the sort of evidence the plaintiff's attorney will introduce: other large stores, running similar sales with similar promotions, took a range of precautions to avoid disaster that Wal-Mart didn't.

Not really. The "shop til you drop" thing doesn't work because it would be considered advertising or puffery. Plus, the stores aren't creating an atmosphere where injury could occur when they put that sign up. It's not language meant to incite a crowd.
I'd argue the steak thing falls under the concept of volenti non fit injuria, which means "to a willing person, no injury is done". The classic examples are amateur boxing, or getting into a bar brawl with someone; if you get hurt, you can't sue them because you were a willing participant. Same thing with the "Eat the Macho" or whatever: you willingly ate the steak, so it would be awfully hard to convince a judge that the restaurant was negligent.

Says you. My point is, there is no such thing as personal responsibility anymore--something I think you've spewed about before, but I could be wrong.

Check out the selection at Overstock dot com. I buy mine there, and get 1000 and 1200 count sheets for a VERY good price. If you want a GREAT selection of all size sheets, they are the place to buy.
I just ordered (and had sent directly to them) some Germany flannel sheets for my friends IN Germany! Overstock had them at less than 1/2 the price they could get them THERE!!!
