Well, like someone else said......they are probably using plastic and we aren't there to witness the horror on their faces when the bills start coming in. Just enjoy your loved ones and look for the real meaning of the season........and be thankful you've got a job to go to! Seriously.......less is better, and passing that lesson on to your kids is much better than having a stressed out house that can't pay the bills.

HEB was actually pretty quiet this morning though. I did notice a security guy (or two?) making the rounds in the parking lot. Wonder if they have been having some problems?
Last week, I went shopping at HEB and there were two guys, maybe late teens early 20s, walking in the parking lot. The one was "talking" on a cell phone and kept kind of motioning to the other guy. They were weaving in and out of the cars and kept looking around and would point from one end of the parking lot to the other. It just looked odd to me. Then they would stop in the middle of the isle of cars and just start walking another direction. This was about 3 in the afternoon. I'm not sure what they were up to but I regret not telling anyone. I didn't because I didn't want to cause some sort of trouble, I just thought it looked weird. THAT might be why there were sec. guards.

Hey guys! My hubby worked yesterday and today too! I'm in the club, I'm in the club! Plus, the rest of my family is in Ohio, so it's been me and my son the past couple of days. Not fun at all!

It might be the same ones hitting NVC. They are "working" at about the same time of day. Jerks. They may finally learn that people are fed up, as soon as they need some help applying direct pressure to their gunshot wounds.

I am totally with you and the rest of the people posting on here about money! I listen to a certain financial somebody (don't want to mention his name, I'm not sure if I can without getting dinged for it) on talk radio. He has inspired me so much to start taking care of our finances more. Which is a huge reason that I"m sitting at home today instead of out and getting caught up in the moment. I seriously laughed about the washing machine thing. I KNOW people like that! It's just an immature or selfish way of thinking.

Also, I totally agree with you Lucky and Sapphire about enjoying your family and not the material things. I've been trying to convert my family to think this way and it hasn't worked yet. I told them, if they would not buy us anything and just spend the money on coming down to visit us, I would be beyond happy! Guess what? They aren't coming down this holiday season. I'm going to keep working on them though! I have been trying to tell them for years that we need to stop buying gifts for one another and enjoy the company that we spend with one another. Now that we are states away from each other, it seems like we are just exchanging gift cards for the same amount to each other. WHY??? It's really kind of dumb! If we would just invest that money in some plane tickets, wouldn't that be more worth it???

That does sound pretty suspicious. I hope that someone puts an end to their "shopping".

My in-laws won't change, but luckily my mom has. For the last 2 years, our gifts from her have been gift certificates for kiva.org. It's where you can make a micro-loan to someone in a third world country and make a huge difference in their life. OMG, it's awesome to put my $25 bucks in with a bunch of other people's money so a man in Peru can buy more cows and better support his family. The best part is, they pay it all back and you can re-loan it to another entrepreneur in Azerbaijan (I have a loan out to a woman with a little shop there and she's 93% repaid on her loan.) They truly don't want a handout, they just need a hand.
