Default Another "Fee" For Unincorporated Areas in Bexar County

I was looking at the Bexar County Tax web site and noticed a new Federal Storm water Fee. Only improved properties in the unincorporated areas of Bexar County (not people living in San Antonio or other cities in Bexar County) are being hit with the $10-$13 fee (mine is $13.66) that is added to your property tax bill.

Comments?

Here is the Bexar County tax web site where you can look up your official tax bill (the fee IS NOT on the BCAD site):

I looked up my place (in San Antonio city limits, btw) and saw a stormwater fee. Maybe you just wind up with one type of stormwater fee or the other, depending on where you live.

Thanks for the link, btw. I was able to request a copy of my property tax statement to keep for my personal records, even though it's paid out of an escrow account!

I checked numerous areas in and around San Antonio (Helotes, Windcrest, San Antonio, South Bexar County) and I could not find a Federal Storm Water Fee except in unincorporated areas of the county. Now, there is a "Flood Fund" (aka Bexar Co Rd & Flood) that everyone pays.

The Bexar County tax web site is a good one to show that your property tax was paid by your escrow account.

Just don't panic if you don't see the payment yet............they don't pay till the end of January. It's only the split payments that are due now (for those of us who pay it on our own ).

That is true that you (or your mortgage company) has until the end of January 2009 to pay. However, many mortgage companies pay sooner than that to ensure payment is received in time as many companies are out of state (like mine).

Here is an interesting bit of information from Bexar County web site about tax liens:

January 1 (Bexar Appraisal District determines ownership and value for tax year 2008)
A tax lien attaches to all taxable property on this date to secure payment of taxes imposed for the year. This lien is automatically extinguished by payment in full.

Note: This is a somewhat older thread.

Time is running out (December 31, 2008) to pay property taxes (unless you use the split pay plan...then January 31, 2008).

Check to see if your mortgage company has paid your tax bill yet as time is running out:

Actually the first payment for a split pay was due November 30th.

From their FAQ:
November 30 (Tax year 2008)
This is the last day to make the first payment on the split payment option.

Also, if you're paying in full you have till Jan 31, 2009.
