Part Time Jobs in San Antonio
Hey all.
I work midnight shift (10pm-630am), so, obviously, I have a lot of free time during the day.
Does anyone have ideas/leads on parttime employment in the area? Or places to avoid?
My dream would be to find a 15, 20 hour a week job in a call center or other type of job like this.
My experience is in call center management, but, would actually like to do a non-responsible type job for a change.

Well, there are certainly no shortage of call centers in this town. Probably the largest and most well-known for being a "disconnect your brain and clock in" type of place is West Business Services. They are located off I-10 & Huebner. There are also other small call center facilities around town... I drive by one every day on McCullough south of Woodlawn. I have no idea what the company name is but there's always a huge banner outside that says they're hiring.
I definitely do not get the impression that either of these centers are places for you to develop a career (like at some of the financial services call centers), but rather just a j-o-b for a p-a-y-c-h-e-c-k.

QVC may be done hiring this year, but keep your eye on Caremark. They have a call center near 410/Culebra.
There is another one, can't remember the name, but they hire people to do phone surveys. I'll hang up on you, but someone may answer your pressing questions.

I already work at the Q!
I will look into those. I know someone at QVC works at the survey place, I will look into that.

"disconnect your brain and clock in" type of place is West Business

I think West has started to transition itself into a more of outsourcing consulting type firm rather than the telemarketing giant it was several years ago. They have some very reputable companies that they currently support. I dont work for them but the company I do work for has them on their radar.
I recently had a friend take up a part time job at Carenet off IH10. She works a very early shift and enjoys it.

This is true. I worked for them for about 6 months and am thinking about coming back after my current company cut me from full time to part time practically making it impossible to live off of the paychecks. The business end of things, "West Business Services" contracts through companies such as AT&T, DHL, American Express, and Aetna. And there is plenty of room to move up within those programs if you do well, whether its management or training, you just have to know and impress the right person (but that's like every other business, right?"
And as far as the OP poster's question, part time may be a little bit harder to find with West, a lot of their shifts are concrete and full time, but give it a try!

They're building a HUGE telemarketing building at the corner of Ingram and Richland Hills. Don't know when it's opening though. Also Fred Loya Insurance is building a regional center in the same area....
