Vandals Paint Racial Slurs, Break Windows At Cafe | WOAI.COM: San Antonio News

This is sickening....it would almost be easier to understand if they were stealing food or money, but no, it seems to be about hate. My son has eaten there and said the food was good, so I think I may go eat there and show some support to this guy. When they catch these bastids, I hope they are charged with a hate crime.

I think we all should do the same, that is, eat at Shisha Cafe which is located at 5500 Babcock Road to show Majeed Alobaidi that the idiots who are doing this are not representative of the good people of San Antonio!

I would also recommend that in addition to spending time in jail (six months should do the trick), these "bastids" should also have to scrub the dumpster behind this cafe with their own toothbrushes!

Cheers! M2

My wonderful neighbors (the husband is from Lebonese) were JUST telling me about that place over the weekend. Now I KNOW I will go soon! I was just looking at their menu & now I'm starving...wish I could go NOW.
I can't imagine what is going through those punks minds when they vandalize places in such a way arrgh!
Anyway, I think this will INCREASE their business & hopefully show the owners that we won't let a few bad apples (punks) ruin their ability to do business here.

That's terrible. I agree with MMM, we should all visit and wish him well.

Gosh...anyone handy around the house and have some extra time? In addition to patronizing his establishment, possibly an offer to help repair and paint to defer the damages. I'm sure he has insurance, but moral support and a kind hand goes a long way to heal wounds.

Thanks, but originally it was sapphire's idea; I was just jumping on it as it was a good one!

I think we'll try and go this weekend. It looks really cool (http://www.shishacafesa.com/Pictures.html - broken link)!

Shisha Café was first opened in San Antonio by a Lebanese entrepreneur in spring of 2003. Designed after the ever-popular Hookah cafes in the Mediterranean, the concept of Shisha Café was relatively new to San Antonio.
Their menu can be found here (http://www.shishacafesa.com/Menu.html - broken link); but as SA08 said, don't look at it if you are hungry as it will only make you hungrier!

And depending on the size of this place, it might be a good location for our next meet-n-greet! Just think of what a nice gesture that would be, the CD-SA gang showing up and dropping their hard-earned cash on some tasty Lebanese cuisine! Maybe SilverCreek78250 can also write up one of his outstanding reviews and post it on his blog. I know that would get the place a lot of visibility, as it is read by millions!

Cheers! M2

Oh, you can also send them an email (via their website) and show them your support. I did so, and referenced this thread. I hope they realize that these are the actions of a select few morons who need a good swift kick in the backside, and do not represent the greater community in general.

I hope I don't appear over-reactive to this, but it really irritates me when incidents like this happen!

Cheers! M2

While these ignorant idiots thought they were gonna hurt this guy looks like they actually are helping him get more business.

I'm curious. How do they get around the No Smoking ordinance. I see they offer 32 varieties of tobacco and I see a picture of a girl smoking a pipe. Figures, I quit smoking and now they allow smoking in restaurants again.
Is there a seperate smoking room?

Our son enjoys going there, he and his friends were regulars back before he became a Marine. I have never been but we will go this week in a show of support!

Great idea guys...have Christmas party commitments this weekend, but WILL find the time to get there for sure!
