We are moving to San Antonio and are looking for some Russian speakers. We are trying to raise our son bilingual (family is Russian) and would love to find some Russian babysitters/nannies. Any leads would be great. Thanks.

Default Costa C

We are living in San Antonio about 7 months. Originally we are from Russia /Ukraine.
I don’t have any ideas about babysitters, but in case if your kid is 7-8 years old we can arrange play date with my son

BTW - Costa and MPG.....try the foreign language departments at the University of Texas. The professors are a wealth of knowledge and may even enlist some volunteer help from you to add some interest to their classes!

Best of luck to you both!

Thanks, our son is only 17 months, so won't be too stimulating to a 7 year old.

Ali Baba on Wurzbach ali baba loc: San Antonio, TX - Google Maps has Russian food and I know there are plenty of people that know Russian, but the only place I know where to find them is where I used to work... which isn't a place the average Joe can walk in to

Hi, Rd is that a grocery store or restaurant. Unfortunately I don't speak russian but my grandmother did, didn't teach anybody else though, it's a shame. She did teach me some russian cooking though, a rather unusual and good pelmini in particular.

Also, I know that there is a good chance of finding someone to fill your needs as a babysitter, San Antonio is the most nicely diverse place I have lived, hands down .

I'm afraid I don't have any information, but I praise you for teaching your child to speak Russian.

It will come in so handy when your child grows up. It will be easier to get jobs in places.

Ali Baba is a market with food from all over the world in it. The pita bread alone is worth the trip there IMO.. and there's a lot of very unique food, VERY unique at times...

BTW, I can use my Serbo-Croatian knowledge to read Russian, but when it comes to speaking or listening, it's pretty much all Greek to me..
