Your location field here says you live in NW SA. A home address in Bexar County is all you need to be eligible to bank at USAA.

yes, that is correct --- the bank used to be open to only USAA members but they expanded their elegibility a few years back...

They just opened a branch on Culebra just outside of 1604. Not sure how many services are available there though.

Culebra branch located just behind Starbucks. Went there today, very disappointed that I couldn't even deposit a check there. I thought I would go in to support the opening of the branch, but if all they do is direct you to a computer, the network was down, they won't get many repeat customers.

Agreed. I bank with USAA but don't live in Texas. It's SO great to be able to deposit checks over the computer (using a scanner), and bank primarily online. Love it.

That is what I heard with some uncertainty today from a customer service rep on the phone. Not sure why they would even waste the money to open a "branch" just to direct you to a computer. Very disappointing!

I did however manage to save about $100 on my auto insurance...they had my teenager rated against the more expensive of our two vehicles. Changed it to rate her against the lesser expensive vehicle...she is still covered to drive either. The computer will select the more expensive vehicle if you don't override it.

I believe the bank has been open to all Bexar county residents since it opened, due to federal law. Recently, it has been made that anyone can open deposit accounts like checking and savings accounts, regardless of local or military affiliation.
