Are there any Italian Bakeries in San Antonio Area?
I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any Italian Bakeries in the San Antonio area? My wife is a cullinary arts major, and is considering opening a bakery on the north somewhere. We have looked in the town of Bandera, Fredericksburg, and Boerne Stage Rd. at locations, but are still in the process. If anyone knows of any other specialty bakeries of this kind we would love to know about them.

I don't know of any, but if she would open an Italian Deli type place to go along with that bakery, she would get my business!!! I guess I'll just have to make my own pizzelles until she opens a place! Oh, what about the Potranco/1604 area?

We'll have to keep that in mind! I know she said she would like to do something with wines, and cheeses also, but not sure about the deli side. I personally do think it would be great though! She's the boss, not me...lol. She is a great cook, and bakes amazing things. She majored in cullinary arts, but most of what she knows she learned through her family since they are all from Palermo. Anyway, I know there is a big bakery over beside Longhorn Cafe on Blanco north, does anyone know what kind it is?

That bakery is Nadler's, which (AFAIK) is a "general" bakery, but it does have a lunch room:

So, im guessing this means there are not any "Italian" Bakeries in the metro.

Please think about the Stone Oak / Canyon Springs area - we really need any bakery in this area especially an Italian Bakery -- The problem I have found here is that wherever you go... the baked items always taste a day or 2 old

Here's my argument for the Potranco area. There are a ton of military here who have been stationed all over the world. They are used to having a multitude of different types of bakeries and shops around. A good Italian bakery would make me personally feel more at home, since that's my heritage. It would be nice to feel like I have something that resembles family especially being so far during the holidays. Is that a big enough pull to have something like that come out this way??? Meh, I think I'm just missing family right now...at least I tried Potranco people!

Seriously??? I went to Little Italy one time and they said they have their cannoli shells flown in from New Orleans or something! I guess you'll have to make your own! What a PITA!
