HELP we need a Safe place not too far from Medical Center
Hey all!
My husband and I recently moved to San Antonio from Miami/Fort Lauderdale FL, he is a resident at University hospital. When we first moved we made a quick and cheap decision since it was only temp (but now it will be 5 years at least), and have been living on Cinnamon Creek Dr close to fredricksburg...but are tired of the insecurity of this area, and our apt was broken into last week, and we are creeped out and ready to move.
Does anyone recommend any apt / cottages / small housee etc for rent somewhat nearby....our budget is up to 850$
any ideas, advice is really appreciated.
mil thanks!

There are several nice, safe complexes on Hamilton Wolfe and on USAA Blvd that you might look into. La Mirage on Hamilton Wolfe and Dove Valley Ranch (I think that's the name) are two places people I know live, and they like it - safe, affordable, lots of students.

Hi,
Not to be nosey but I would like to know.
I am interested in the Northwest/Medical Center area also.
I'm sorry to hear about the break-in. I hope you had renters insurance. If not, please get some since it's not too expensive & worth the peace of mind.
I brought back an Apartment Guide October issue & I was just looking at it recently. Nice color photos & descriptions but that doesn't tell you a whole lot. My price range is the same.

I live in a creepy uncomfortable area too with trashy neighbors. It is not a good feeling.

If you see some you like, note the address and do a crime search. It won't tell you everything you'd like to know, but it's a start.
Crimebase
And this is just my opinion, but I would totally avoid anything on Datapoint.

I second that, the Datapoint apartments are pretty sketchy. Most of the people who go to school with me who lived there have since moved out, because they got sick of dealing with living there.

My husband and I live in Las Cimas. We've been here 5 years, and have never had any problems at all - no break-ins, haven't heard of any break-ins.
The apartments are older, though, so if you're looking for something fancy-pants, it ain't Las Cimas. On the other hand, it's cheap and safe here.
